Ever the quintessential multi-hyphenate, Joy is the Managing Partner of The White Legal Group LLC (TWLG), a boutique employment and small business law firm, and the Founder and CEO of Flawed Masterpiece, a personal development, urban wellness, and lifestyle business unapologetically catering to the unique needs of Black women.
Joy White brings almost 20 years of experience to her legal practice. She is a highly skilled litigator and businesswoman with a proven track record of providing meaningful and strategic legal advice to companies and organizations of all sizes ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 corporations in a variety of industries, including hospitality, educational institutions, transportation, healthcare, real estate, and financial institutions. Before re-launching TWLG in 2020, Ms. White served Morehouse College for over four years as the Vice President of Legal Affairs, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and College Secretary of Morehouse College.
Joy is licensed to appear in all federal and state courts in the state of Georgia. She is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia. She sits on the Attorney Wellness Committee, working alongside other GA attorneys to bring awareness and highlight services for attorney wellness. Joy has been an active member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Gate City Bar Association since 2005. She is a proud member of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2022, and serves on the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence Board of Directors.
Beyond her legal practice, Joy has a particular interest and expertise in coaching Black women attorneys, physicians, senior executives, and entrepreneurs. She helps them adeptly navigate the mindset, wellness, and professional roadblocks unique to Black women working in male-dominated professions and industries. Having successfully traversed the rewarding yet tumultuous terrain of the legal profession, higher education administration, and entrepreneurship, Joy brings a depth and breadth of personal and professional experience that is unmatched in the mindset and executive coaching field.
Joy has received numerous awards and accolades, most notably, 2022 Core 100 Most Influential Blacks, Who’s Who in Black Atlanta, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 under 40, Rising Star in Employment Law (Super Lawyer Magazine), AV-Rated, Preeminent (Martindale-Hubbell), National Black Lawyers Top 100, and Women Leaders in the Law (Fortune Magazine).
Joy is also an award-winning filmmaker, debuting her first short film Finding Joy in the Journey: A Flawed Masterpiece, based on her journey of healing, which won Best Documentary and Most Inspirational Film in the Cannes World Film Festival, Most Inspirational in the Top Shorts Film Festival, and qualified as a semi-finalist for Best Narrative Short and Most Inspiring Woman in a Film in the Los Angeles Film Awards, Honorable Mention in the Black Truth Festival, and Most Inspirational in the Short Cine Fest.
Joy is a proud alumna of Spelman College and Vanderbilt University Law School. She lives in the City of Decatur, Georgia, with her teenage sons, Jayden (18) and Bryson (14), and Tiko, their mini-dachshund hound.
