Today, entrepreneurship takes on a whole new meaning. When we make it through this recession all of the entrepreneurs that are still standing will have superhero status. It’s going to take some superhero powers to fight the new business villains. As a child my favorite superhero was Wonder Woman. I remember going around the house imitating her every move.
This morning I did not want to get up. The highs and lows of business can sometimes drain you. Even though I didn’t want to get started, I kept going anyway. When you’re in business you need to watch the news, read the newspaper, and search the internet to stay current. But all the bad news can make you feel overwhelmed.
I was watching my Good Morning America and Dr. Michael Roizen was a guest. Dr. Roizen is the creator of RealAge.com. They were discussing how the stressful job of being the President ages you. He named a few things that President Obama should do so that he won’t age so quickly during his term. Dr. Roizen said that he should exercise, eat right, and stay connected to his friends. You need confidants to help you through the tough times.
All four of my closest friends are entrepreneurs as well. They know what it feels like to be Wonder Woman too. We have our businesses, children, lovers, and friends. We’re fighting villains everyday. We have a rule. If you are having a bad day and you call me first, I’m not allowed to have a bad too. That way we don’t have a bad day at the same time. We have to be positive for each other. So this morning, I called one of my friends to get my dose of kick ass. It didn’t take long before I was zipping up my Wonder Woman boots. So remember to keep you superhero friends close and your villains closer!
