Angela Rice is the host of the TV show ‘A Women’s Place’ on AIB. Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters Inc. is a non-profit organization providing religious, educational and public service television programming. And it was an honor to be a guest on her show; which aired this past week. The show topic was nontraditional careers for women. Angela interviewed me about how I got into the electrical field and about my company Power Solutions, Inc. I have received so many emails and calls about the show. I really do appreciate all of the support.

I have not be able to blog very often because of the my heavy work load for the construction industry during the summer. Starting next month I’ll be back blogging regularly. But I had to take time out to thank Angela and to share some advice with women that were inspired by the show. ‘A Women’s Place’ is a 30 minute program that took years of dedication and an enormous amount of work to air. Just like my business, people can’t begin to imagine what it takes to be in my position. You need faith and determination to live your dream. And yes, there are moments I want to quit. But those moments are few and far between. I find myself enjoying the journey; instead of the completion of each goal. For the most part, my business does not seem like hard work. This is what I honestly love to do.

After 9/11, I was having a rough time in business. I was on a jobsite at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Norcross, GA. I was sitting with my head tilted back, looking at the sky; trying not to cry. I told one of the pastors; ‘I don’t know why I keep doing this. No matter how hard it is for me as a woman; I keep showing up everyday ready to work!’ Pastor White said, “It’s in your heart!  You automatically do what’s in your heart. Things that are in your heart, you don’t have to try to do. That’s who you are.” And at that moment, I knew that God had spoke to me through him.  Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from pursuing your dream!
