Congratulations, Alysa Stanton!  Yes, that’s right, Ms. Stanton was ordained on June 6.  She completed seven years of rabbinical training at Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Ms. Stanton is also a single mom to a 14 year old girl that she adopted.  Only 20% of the American Jewish Community are minorities.  She has already faced many racial challenges during her one year training to be a rabbi.  However, I believe that Alysa Stanton was truely ordained by God to hold this position.

I was the first woman to become an electrician in I.B.E.W. Local 917 located in Meridian, Miss.  Growing up in the south and breaking these barriers was not easy.  My Grandmother would tell me that there is a season and a time for everything.  And now I truely understand what she was saying.  This is the season for women to hold offices and get jobs that we thought would ever be possible.  WDE applauds you, Alysa Stanton, for your hard work, determination, and your faith in God.
